Welcome

The Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) is delighted to invite you to the AI in Research Management Virtual Symposium, bringing together research management professionals from across Australasia and beyond to explore one of the most significant forces reshaping our profession.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way research is conceived, managed, funded and translated into impact. Across Australia and New Zealand, institutions are running pilots and hackathons, testing new tools and, in some cases, scaling successful initiatives into enterprise solutions. At the same time, AI raises important questions about governance, integrity, workforce capability and the role of human judgement in research management. As a virtual event, the symposium makes it easy for colleagues from every part of the research office to join from wherever they are and share what is working, what is not, and what comes next.

The program is built around four interconnected themes: Agents, Governance, People and Scale. Attendees can expect practical case studies, expert insights and interactive discussions on AI agents and automation across the research lifecycle, responsible AI and research integrity, the future of work and psychosocial impacts, and moving from isolated pilots to sustainable, organisation-wide adoption. Together, we will consider not only what AI can do today, but how research organisations can build the capability, governance and confidence needed to realise its long-term value, while keeping people at the core of research management.

Join us online as we learn, connect and look ahead together. We look forward to welcoming you to the AI in Research Management Virtual Symposium.
